What are the review committees?
The Review Committees on which students can serve consist of the College Academic Integrity Committee (CAIC) and the Student Conduct Committee (SCC). The College Academic Integrity Committee hears cases of alleged academic misconduct which is serious and/or chronic in nature. The Student Conduct Committee hears cases of alleged social misconduct which is serious and/or chronic in nature. Student involvement in the hearing committees creates a unique opportunity for students to have a direct impact on the lives of fellow students, since you would provide input on the outcome for students alleged to have committed policy violations.

What would be expected of me as a Student Chair? What is the time commitment?
- The term of service for the Student Chair position will be June 2008 and ending at the completion of Spring Quarter 2009.
- Chairs run the hearings for the Student Conduct Committee and they also serve as regular members for academic cases a couple times a quarter . Students are assigned to cases based on the kind of case it is; so you may serve as a Member when we have cases with students who are alleged to have committee academic misconduct within a class in your college.
- Committee members (and Chairs) need to attend training which will be approximately six (6) total hours divided into multiple sessions, with yet a couple more additional hours for students who are Chairs (see application information for specifics). There will likely be additional training mid-Fall Quarter and as-needed to cover special topics.
- As a Chair, you would run a hearing approximately once (sometimes twice) per week, from about 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Therefore, you would need to be available during this time at least one day per week, with the exception of Friday.
- Hearings are scheduled Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays primarily from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm (approximate). This time per hearing may vary (be more or less) depending on the complexity of the case being heard. We ask that you keep yourself available to serve on at least one of these afternoons on a weekly basis.
- Chairs also are expected to do additional office hours to bring their total hours per week to 10-15 hours (this includes serving as Chair for a board and it allows time to write letters from hearings, get projects done, do programmatic outreach, etc.)
- There is a stipend of $250 per quarter: $1000/12 months or $750/9 months.
